Gwinnett County Public Schools Human Resources department, one of several Mighty 8th clients in the education sector, recently presented us with their latest marketing challenge. In just a few short weeks they would be participating in an upcoming career fair and wanted to interview at least 800 qualified applicants onsite. Just like all of our clients, they expected marketing results and we were prepared to deliver.
The crew at Mighty 8th rolled up our sleeves and strategized about the best methods for recruiting the top teaching talent around the Metro Atlanta area. From email marketing and social media posts to local print advertising, we generated a multi-faceted approach that would generate the traction that GCPS HR needed to make the event a success. This strategy led to long lines of applicants at the career fair.
One of the main ways we were able to capture their audience was by sending out well-designed email blasts to a list of potential applicants that had previously indicated interest. This email newsletter was designed to give the user a snapshot of the available jobs and provide an intuitive, step-by-step set of instructions on how to register for the career fair. This messaging and imagery was also used on social media to generate excitement among followers of GCPS HR.
Hundreds of registered applicants interviewed at the show, hoping to land one of the many quality jobs within the Gwinnett County Public Schools system.
We also designed a trade show banner that was cohesive with the GCPS brand and consistent with the email marketing visuals we employed to generate the interest of applicants.
The Career Fair was a huge success with 630 scheduled interviews and 1500 walk-ins. Some teachers were even hired on the spot!
Below is a testimonial from our contact in the Gwinnett County Public Schools HR Department.
“Thank you guys so much for your creative ideas used to advertise our spring teacher career fair at the Gwinnett Center. The ads you created plus the eblast campaign generated over 1500 registrants. In addition, your idea for the eblast that we sent out to the college career centers generated additional registrants for our special education teacher interviews held this past Saturday. As always, we appreciate our relationship and your great ideas to boost participation in our teacher recruitment events.”

Email blasts and social media posts with a clear call to action are an ideal way to reach your audience and get them interested in your event, product or service. If you’re driving recipients to a show or event, it’s best to have graphics consistent with the original email marketing so that you’re presenting a cohesive, professional image!
