Tammy’s Birthday in Paradise
Posted by: Gordon McMahan

On Friday we celebrated Tammy’s Birthday.  Considering she loves the sun and is a borderline Parrothead (the nickname for fans of Jimmy Buffett), we chose a theme of “Cheeseburger in Paradise” to celebrate another year in the life of Tammy.

We decorated her desk area with all the fun things you’d expect in the islands. You know, limp blow-up palm trees, cheesy margarita-shaped sunglasses, a poor fitting coconut bra, etc.  Not exactly Paradise, but a close approximation.  C’mon, it’s Downtown Buford!  We did our best.

Maybe it expected tropical temperatures or perhaps it stepped on a pop-top, but our high quality, inflatable palm tree from Party City did not want to stay inflated.  Fortunately, Christin and Bev came to the rescue with our office air compressor.  (every ten minutes)

Bradley claimed that he was “The Tree Whisperer” and thought he could diagnose this poor tree’s depressurization issue to maximize Tammy’s birthday enjoyment.  He succeeded only in making himself look ridiculous, and will think twice before again proclaiming himself the Dr. Phil of artificial trees.  Meanwhile, Christin appeared to engage in the “Chicken Dance” like some sort of Island voo-doo attempt to keep this key piece of the party decor inflated.

Once we realized that there was no hope for our deflated decor, we headed out to lunch.  In a continuation of the Cheeseburger in Paradise theme, naturally we headed to Cheeseburger Bobby’s!

The burgers at Cheeseburger Bobby’s are so good we forgot to take a photo of the spread of burgers before we inhaled them.  So, here’s a picture of the cheeseburger on their wall instead:

At the end of the day, it was time for (virgin) margaritas!  Since Tammy is the undisputed mayor of Margaritaville, we let her take care of getting the salt on the rims of the margarita cups.  In hindsight we should probably be glad she didn’t grab the bucket and start chugging.

What better way to wrap up Tammy’s birthday than with a refreshing batch of ‘ritas?  After all, it’s five o’clock somewhere!

We plugged Jimmy Buffett into Pandora today, and listened to his tunes and similar music all day.  Literally, as the photo above was taken at 5PM on the dot, the song “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere” started on the radio.  Creepy and neato all at the same time.

It was a great day to kick back and celebrate a treasured member of our team and her birthday milestone.

Happy Birthday Tammy!
