Cream Cheese Cook-off at the Hangar!

We’re a competitive bunch at The Hangar, and last week we held another episode of our semi-annual interoffice cook-offs.  A few times a year we pick a special ingredient and our cooking all-stars make dishes that feature this tasty recipe inspiration.  From the onion cookoff to cheesy appetizers, we’ve had more food battles in our office than you’ll see on the Food Network.  It’s a great way to enjoy each other’s company and culinary capabilities!

The special ingredient for this edition of the cook-off was cream cheese. This versatile product can make savory dishes creamy or provide a tangy punch to sweet dishes.  There were an amazing variety of entries, including crock-pot dishes, casseroles, layered dips, pimento cheese spread, sweet dips, dessert bars and more.

Once everyone sampled the cream cheese cook-off entries, a vote was taken by super-secret ballot.  Usually there are a few inedible duds amongst the entries, but this was actually a great spread of creative cream cheese dishes.

After the votes were tallied, Tammy walked away with the grand prize for her amazing stuffed pasta shells.  Her dish was the perfect blend of pasta, tomato sauce, fresh herbs, and cream cheese. And once she was announced the winner, Tammy fessed up that she even used non-fat cream cheese!


Congrats Tammy!  Your cream cheese cook-off victory was well deserved.  We’ll all be looking for our revenge at the holiday cookie cookoff in December!
