James Bytheway

Senior Designer

“My adventure started the day I got off the plane in America.”

Growing up with a mother who was an old-school graphic artist, the only question about James’ creative career was just how many mediums he would master. The list so far: drawing, graphic and web design — and graffiti. His passion for the culture and creativity of “nontraditional illustration” has bridged two continents. In fact, he was the first graffiti artist to paint in London’s Hyde Park at The o2 Festival and was also featured in Atlanta, GA’s first-ever Living Walls.

Before he started working in the hangar, James honed his web and design skills in the automotive industry where he designed sites for car and motorcycle manufacturers, as well as dealers all over North America. He also won a “Cutest Kid” award in elementary school. His prize? A golden piggy bank in the shape of the Queen’s crown.

James moved from England to Atlanta, GA after university. Having earned his degree from the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design in the UK, he wanted to explore. The U.S. was his first stop and, after meeting his wife and finally getting a driver’s license, became his last. When he’s not painting or traveling, James pulls his inspiration from walkabouts, architecture, classic muscle cars, and a thick steak grilled just right. His eye for detail, a penchant for breaking the rules (only when it comes to design, of course), and a rock-solid foundation of how to sell anything visually, brings a touch of British flair to our crew.
