Today was a special day at Mighty 8th as we celebrated the 29th birthday of our very own Ben! His desk area was decorated in a nautical theme with many fish species floating around.

So what did this underwater decor and its sea-faring creatures represent? It could only mean one thing: SUSHI! Ben is a huge fan of sushi, particularly from a local establishment near Lake Lanier called Little Tokyo. So, the whole gang piled into a few cars and headed to Ben’s favorite local sushi hangout.

In the picture above, Ben is holding something that LOOKS like sushi, but it’s actually soap that is disguised like sushi. Very clever! Score one for cleanliness.

Meanwhile, after our orders were placed, the salad course began rolling out and (almost) everyone gave their chopstick skills a workout.

Then it was time for the sushi Gods to work their magic. Once the scrumptious tiger rolls and California rolls started hitting the table, it was mere moments before the plates were cleaned.

For the non-sushi lovers among us, Little Tokyo has a nice variety of Asian options for every taste. Here Tammy can be seen dousing her tasty stir-fried veggies with a healthy dose of soy sauce.

Once everyone had their fill of this Asian-themed feast, it was time for the favorite part of any birthday celebration: cake! But this wasn’t just any cake, this was a custom cake made to look just like the sushi feast that we just had! (Because when you are absolutely stuffed with sushi, the thing you want is something that looks like a carbon copy of what you just ate, but with a sickly-sweet frosting coating all over it.)

But seriously, this was one good looking cake. Kudos to the Publix cake department for delivering a real masterpiece!

Ben was so pleased with his lunch and the cake that he shared two pieces with the couple that owns and runs Little Tokyo.

Ben spends so much time at this place, these nice folks are almost like his foster parents! They really seemed to enjoy hosting our whole crew today, and it was a very memorable way to mark this special occasion.

Happy Birthday, Ben!

With our recent launch of Buford accounting extraordinaire L. Robin Brown’s new website and brand, we decided to celebrate with a bouquet of custom designed cookies! Delivered to their comfy home office environment, these cookies were sure to make the perfect mid-afternoon snack.

After all, who wouldn’t enjoy chowing down on their very own logo? We have a partnership with Cookies by Design in Roswell, a company with a very talented trained artist on staff to recreate the various logos, fonts and images that we design on behalf of our clients. Not only are these cookies tasty, but they look phenomenal as well!

Eric is the account executive that has handled the L. Robin Brown & Associates account from their very first call into our office, and he has provided her with a few precious keepsakes that still adorn her office. First, Robin is a coffee aficionado and always has a hot cup of Starbucks in hand. Eric took this inspiration and created a cool custom thank you note designed to pay homage to her love for java!

Taking it a step further, Eric ended up creating a design of Robin’s name purely out of materials from Starbucks and this item is featured right behind her desk. This is personalized customer service to a new extreme!

As you can see, we are are a marketing agency that loves our clients and, even more, we love delivering successful marketing tools that help them generate business!

Guess what? We can help you too. Drop us a line and let’s chat over a nice cup of warm coffee.

We’re excited to announce the launch of the Robin Brown & Associates website and new brand! Upon meeting Robin, you’d never know that she was a number cruncher at heart (however, the permanently attached coffee cup in hand would serve as a dead giveaway that she is definitely a Starbucks fanatic.) Her down-to-earth, warm personality combined with years of experience and accounting expertise make for a truly unique client experience. Her team is an extension of that warmth and passion for accounting. Each are trained accounting experts and dedicated to seeing each of their clients succeed – whatever way that means.

The Challenge

Helping Robin stand out among other CPAs wasn’t the biggest challenge for us since her industry is unfortunately plagued with outdated and boring left-brained design. Our goal wasn’t to change the face of accountants around the world. Instead, our goal was to position Robin Brown & Associates as both the reputable financial experts that they are as well as personable visionaries providing vital expertise integral to helping their clients create lasting legacies.

The Opportunity

What may seem as an uncommon similarity between the creative and analytical world proved to be a great strength in designing the brand and website for Robin Brown & Associates. Helping our client’s envision the potential of their brand and/or product and then acting on sound marketing practices to make that vision come to life is a mirror image of what Robin’s team does for their clients.

The Results

Using warm colors and textures, we were able to create a brand and website that evokes the personality and professionalism of the team in effort to attract potential clients looking for a unique and personable accounting experience.

An important element with any marketing tool is to remember your audience and their needs. By keeping the content simple, understandable and engaging, the website offers visitors a clear path to how Robin Brown & Associates can help them meet their financial goals. By incorporating a “team” page, the visitor can learn about who they are working with (not to mention learning interesting facts, such as three of the team members having triplets)!

By simply pulling out the personality of Robin Brown & Associates, we were able to make her stand out in the crowd. It may be that simple for your business as well.

In honor of our friend Robin and her knack for Starbucks, give us a call to chat over a cup of coffee about how we might be able to help you see similar results!

Lovin’ Spoons is conquering the world of frozen yogurt one groovy store at a time, and we have the pleasure of helping them market their tasty product and store concept not only to hungry customers but also to potential franchisees. With four stores under their belt, Lovin’ Spoons is embarking on a strategic rollout of franchising efforts throughout the Southeast and eventually beyond.

To assist in their franchising efforts, we designed a custom three panel folder to house a suite of inserts showcasing the Lovin’ Spoons story, store support, differentiators, FAQs and more. The folder itself features a custom die-cut pocket to house the inserts and a spot UV treatment which creates depth and highlights for many elements on the inside and outside of the folder.

Additionally, we created a small tri-fold brochure that will be featured in-store to quickly highlight Lovin’ Spoons franchise offerings and drive inquiries on their website.

This brochure is cleverly featured on vinyl graphics prominently above the famous orange sofa in each store for those that are ready to dig into some froyo franchise opportunities.

The beauty of this particular print process was that our client was able to join us for the press check! Diane Kahn, founder of Lovin’ Spoons, attended the press check with her daughter Abigail to literally see her folder come off the presses.

At each press check, we check everything from ink coverage to Pantone colors to make sure everything prints perfectly. Diane was very impressed with the professionalism and equipment of the printer for this project, Standard Press. She even took a few iphone photos and videos to commemorate the occasion!

Last week we celebrated Tammy’s birthday with a nautical theme! Why did we build a boat at her desk including a near-life-size-blowup replica of her? Because Tammy is out celebrating her actual birthday on a cruise with several friends from college! So, we wanted to create the S.S. Margo Rita to get her in the cruising mood!

After Tammy enjoyed her cruise ship experience in the morning, we set sail for our lunch time destination: Mellow Mushroom. We hit the high seas for Suwanee, and arrived in port just in time for lunch. As seen in the photo below, one end of the table ordered appetizers and salads and were comfortably enjoying the beginnings of their meal. Meanwhile, in the foreground, several sad sailors sat without vittles for the first part of the meal. Eric even resorted to snorting Splenda.

However, it was mere moments before the magical Mellow Mushroom pizzas began to arrive! Below is a tasty example of their fine offerings, the Buffalo Chicken Pizza! Can you ever go wrong with chicken, bacon, wing sauce, ranch dressing, cheese and pizza crust? The answer is a definitive NO.

After downing our pizzas and the other awesome offerings at Mellow Mushroom, we took a stroll down the street to a local self serve frozen yogurt store. (full disclosure: the best self serve frozen yogurt store on the planet is Lovin’ Spoons, one of our clients. They just don’t have a franchise store in the Atlanta area…YET!) Tammy loves froyo, so this was a natural stop for some delicious dessert. Everyone made their favorite mix of frozen yogurt and tasty toppings to top off a great celebration of Tammy’s Birthday.

Aaaaand then Eric licked Kevin’s head. Yep. Licked it.

Happy Birthday Tammy! Thanks for keeping us all afloat with your sense of humor and great spirit!

If you’ve lived in Atlanta or visited at any point in your life you’ve probably heard of, if not eaten at, one of Ray’s Restaurants’ three locations. They’ve helped set the standard for fine dining in the metro area – specializing in fresh seafood, prime cut steaks and made-to-order sushi.

Along with award winning food, Ray’s exceeds in creating a unique and memorable experience for each and every guest. Realizing that creating this special experience branches out beyond the physical restaurant location, Ray’s choose the Mighty 8th team to create an online experience that extended that hospitality.

Our relationship started out with a tour of all three locations where we personally met the chefs and general managers from each restaurant. Getting to know them as well as the restaurants themselves offered valuable insight into the passion and personality the Ray’s team puts into making their guests feel special. Enjoying a delicious lunch at Ray’s on the River was all in a hard day’s work…but someone had to make sure the food was as good as it looked!

The Challenge

While all three restaurants are under the Ray’s brand, each have their own, unique vibe. From interior decor differences to the peak hours and type of visitors they attract, it was necessary for each website to thrive on what makes that location unique yet still cling to the Ray’s brand and standard of excellence.

As with any Atlanta attraction, Ray’s wanted to spotlight and convey that they are also one of Atlanta’s best for hosting special events such as weddings, receptions and business meetings. The full-service catering and event planning services were almost a hidden secret that was in need of attention.

It was also necessary for the website to be centrally managed by one editor, their marketing manager. Creating a way for the site editor to update all sites in a seamless and efficient way was critical to quickly update and disseminate information.

The Opportunity

The challenge ended up serving as the perfect gateway to endless opportunities for the Ray’s website! Due to their unique history and style, the options available for warm textures, rich colors and vivid photography were abundant. Our team’s knack for detail and talent for pulling together various pieces allowed for the blending of each site into its own masterpiece – pulling out highlights and features that draw the visitor in to the overall experience.

And, by using the WordPress platform to create a custom content management system, we were able to create a website that could be centrally managed and quickly updated as menu and event changes arise.

The Results

We created a unique online experience for the visitor before they even stepped foot into any Ray’s location. The latest menus, specials, events and photos are now displayed in a way that whets your appetite and entices you to make your reservation or visit Ray’s today!

“This was by far the most organized and painless website project of my career. The Mighty 8th team worked with me from the very beginning to understand my vision for the site redesign. They ensured my project stayed on schedule and on budget, while maintaining excellent communication. I am so pleased with the outcome of the new Ray’s Restaurants website! Not only is it beautiful, but it is much more user friendly, informative and boasts the latest in site metrics.” – Claire Brimmer

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Claire Brimmer, Marketing Director for Ray’s, and her great team. We hope the site gains them much attention and drives even more business to their great restaurants! Be sure to check out their new website and visit one of their three locations!

Local health departments are one of the greatest resources, and often a hidden treasure, for many in communities across our country. The Gwinnett, Newton and Rockdale (GNR) County Health Departments are among those offering services to meet the needs of their local communities. From child immunizations, family planning and disease prevention to local health inspection scores, the GNR Health Department offers a wealth of helpful services and information.

The Challenge

The Health Department was challenged with effectively communicating everything to everyone, which is common for an organization that provides such a variety of services to a diverse audience. As you can imagine, prioritizing health services or trying to predict what someone might find helpful isn’t always simple, making organization and presentation of content one of the major keys to an effective website.

As with any government organization, managing resources as efficiently as possible is critical. GNR need to manage their website in-house, but they also recognized that the days of having a dedicated web developer on staff were coming to an end. Therefore, creating a custom yet easy-to-use backend content management system for the website was a must-have.

The Opportunity

Since staring at your own website content can often become mindnumbing and steal the creativity right out of the room, the Health Department thought it would serve them best to enlist a team like Mighty 8th Media to take a step back, examine their content with fresh eyes, and propose an effective way of communicating with their audiences via the website.

The Results

By developing a site map, the Health Department was able to see the big picture of how we recommended bucketing content. From there, each page was wireframed to ensure that content layout was reader-friendly and all necessary elements were represented.

Once the content was organized, we created a design that showcased the variety and quality of services offered. By designing an expandable drop down system, we provided a way for the Health Department to expand or update services on the fly. Personable photography, soothing colors and clean text treatments also helped further enhance the Health Department’s image.

From overall web strategy and content organization to web design and development, we enjoyed helping GNR more effectively communicate the important resources they offer. We appreciate the role they serve in keeping our community strong and healthy, and hope you enjoy using their website!

This past week our very own Gordon McMahan turned 36 years old, so we decided to thrown down, Shetland style!

Gordon spent his early years in Shetland and Iceland, clubbing baby seals and burning batches of wild moss in his hobbit hut to stay warm. A main source of income for his family in those days was raising sheep, so in keeping with his rich heritage, the Mighty 8th crew pimped out his cubical Shetland style, complete with free-standing cut-out sheep.

We also included plenty of wild moss, and a beautiful poster depicting the birthday boy in all his Shetland glory. Yes, that sheep he’s riding like a bull is in a great deal of pain.

For lunch we visited Ted’s Montana Grill to get our graze on. With it’s rustic charm and exotic cuisine, Ted’s worked nicely with the day’s somewhat rugged and outdoorsy theme.

To Gordon’s disappointment, the menu was devoid of his favorite entrée, lamb and mutton. However, he did settle on one of the many styles of bison burgers for which Ted’s is famous. Who knew buffalo tasted so good?

After lunch we continued the festivities back at The Hangar. There were no games of “Pin the Tail on the Shetland Pony” or “Hide and Go Sheep” as promised. Bradley took great pleasure to Gordon’s dismay.

There was, however, one of the BEST caramel pound cakes ever! Even better, Gordon was able to share a piece with his “special friend.”

Happy Birthday to one of Mighty 8th’s long-time employees! A great guy to work with, and one who really stands out from the herd.
